Hello beasties!

This week I'll be telling you a bit about my recent trip to Marseille between Sunday 20th and Friday 25th May 2018. I have photos for you - although I want to keep some of them aside for when I release the episode that I recorded out there. There was quite a lot of over-dubbing for this one - as there was with the Denmark episode, but whilst the over-dubbing for that episode was done in the UK - I was able to record all the extra stuff one afternoon in Marseille itself. You probably don't need to know any of this...

First up I want to tell you about our more recent couple of episodes - oh, and we have a new logo for the show to celebrate our 2nd anniversary! I found an app on my phone whilst I was away that pretty much did all the hard work for me. I hope you like it!!

Here we are for episode 170 - and we've gone all poetic on you again... We're celebrating 10 years since I published my book, SHY YETI'S INCREDIBLE PIE-CRUST COLLECTION and a selection of the lesser-read pieces are presented for your entertainment. Yeti Uncle John also helps out and we have messages from Bettina, Dameus, Ikk and Charlie Grrr. Cromitty and Martin also have a somewhat bizarre clip from a Winter 1993 episode of SUTTON PARK! Thanks to all those who feature. Our next episode, number 171 will be a compilation of Mr Yeti's last three visits to Radio Wey in 2018! It's going to be fun! Do join us, won't you?! Please email me at if you have any comments - you can even send me a sound-file and I'll include it on the show. The music is by Shy Yeti and Luca. Sound effects by Paul Chandler. Many thanks to Nick Goodman for digitizing the S.P. clips. All content is Copyright Paul Chandler, 2018.  Episode 170 was recorded between the 23rd and 31st January 2018, with one small addition recorded on the 28th May 2018.

This episode can be downloaded on iTunes, Acast, Podbean and also from Soundcloud at the following link:

Poems from SHY YETI'S INCREDIBLE PIE-CRUST COLLECTION especially performed during this show include: ABOVE THE CLOUDS, A LIFE TOGETHER, ALL GIVE - NO TAKE, BABIES LIKE MY FACE, BALLAD OF A GO-GO BEAR, BALLAD OF CAUSEY HILL, BELLY-BUTTON FLUFF TEA, BREAKING UP IS HARDER..., DIAGONAL CAT, FLOOZY, HUEY'S ON THE TOWN AGAIN, MY LIFE IS A MUSICAL and LITTLE PIG. Further poems were recorded during this session - some will appear during the June Pride48 LIVE show and others will be archived for future use.

Next up - our next episode saw a very special guest arrive - one that I've hoped to include since episode 1...

In a change to our scheduled episode we have a true SHY LIFE PODCAST exclusive in which we meet Paul work-mate - Beverley - who we have wanted to interview since episode 1! We discuss work, issues in soaps and studying for degrees in the evening whilst juggling a busy family! We had great fun - she will definitely be back soon; we hope you enjoy our conversation! There are also a couple of poems - a clip from the archives - comments from the regulars and we also hear from Calum who has just been to a garden party with The Queen.(We're not making it up, for once... Well...) Our next episode, number 172 returns us to our originally scheduled episode where we head to Radio Wey for a very poetic turn of events. Do join us, won't you?! Please email me at if you have any comments - you can even send me a sound-file and I'll include it on the show. The music is by Shy Yeti and Luca. Sound effects by Paul Chandler and Soundbible. Thanks to Beverley, Calum, Nick G for digitising and also to Ceri who appears in the S.P. clip. All content of this episode is Copyright Paul Chandler, 2018. Episode 171 was recorded on 1st June 2018, with one slight re-recording on 2nd June 2018; the brief Sutton Park clip comes from late 1993.

This episode can be downloaded on iTunes, Acast, Podbean and also from Soundcloud at the following link:

Next up - our next episode was the one that we had originally planned to release as episode 171 - it's that episode about returning to Radio Wey - a compilation of our trio of appearances in 2018, so far!!

Here we are for episode 172 - in which Mr Yeti heads back to Radio Wey - not once but THREE TIMES!! Paul catches up with Tim and Nathan for poetry, stories and chat and we even meet Nathan's mum and hear from her. Yeti Uncle John is a guest in the studio and we also hear from some of the other regulars. This is a compilation of our last three visits to The Virtual Pub in February, March and May 2018. Thanks to Nathan and Patricia for allowing us to use clips of their work and for Tim for inviting us back and for being a fine host! Our next episode, number 173 sees Paul answering listeners questions and catching up with Wifey Jo! Do join us, won't you?! Please email me at if you have any comments - you can even send me a sound-file and I'll include it on the show. The music is by Shy Yeti and Luca. Sound effects by Paul Chandler. All content of this episode is Copyright Paul Chandler, 2018, except for the work performed by the other writers on the show. Episode 172 was recorded between 10th February and the 19th May 2018.

There are plenty more episodes coming up in June - including two live shows, but more about that nearer the time...

So... What did I get up to whilst I was away? Here's all you need to know! (Need!?! Really!?!)

When did we go? Sunday 20th-Friday 25th May 2018

Where did we go? Marseille, France

Who went? Paul (aka Shy Yeti) and Calum!

Sunday 20th May... Today was a lot of travelling - from London on the Eurostar via Paris down to Marseille... It was hot and busy and... I did come up with some new Garageband music which was good, but anyway... It was good to get there and not have to fly! We checked into our Mercure Hotel near the Old Port and went for dinner around the corner. A long day, but it was good to be there!

Monday 21st May... Today was a bank holiday in France and we took the road train up the Notre Dame on the hill - pursued by a load of bikers! (It was a bank holiday thing, don't ask!)  We also ate ice cream and went for a curry in the evening; you can't really grumble about that!

Tuesday 22nd May... Today we went to Arles ( - a town a little less than an hour away from Marseille where Vincent Van Gogh painted and also lost his ear... It was a nice place to spend a few hours and we were almost heading back to the station before I realised it. We certainly didn't overstay our welcome and I enjoyed taking photos and chilling out in the old Roman arena whilst Calum explored the heights. Once home we went out for dinner at a restaurant not far from the port where I had fish again. We didn't find the service very good at any of the restaurants that we visited early in the week - at least it was very hard to get a dessert menu or a bill out of them and we nearly didn't get our main meal at all on the Tuesday!

Wednesday 23rd May... Today we took a boat-trip to Chateau D'if ( - an island and off Marseille that had once been a prison colony and then also headed on to another island not far away, Frioul Island... I enjoyed the first island best as there were more interesting things to explore and a good view from the top of the chateau - Frioul was nice enough but more touristy, hilly and dusty.  Lovely to be out on the water! We had burgers that evening and a drink or two!

Thursday 24th May... Today headed out on the water again - this time along the coast for a couple of hours - cruising into a couple of interesting bays and enjoying the views. Once back Calum took a bit more of a wander and I went back to the hotel to record links for the episode that I had been recording; in the evening we had drinks and crepes!

Friday 25th May... Today was all about travelling home - and again, it was hot and crowded and the trains were a bit slow... (There had been strikes the day before and there would be again on the Saturday too!) The journey between Gare de Lyon and Gare du Nord was needlessly complicated by poor signage and broken ticket machines - but we made our Eurostar fine and was home with Deeley by 5.30pm. Time for tea! Hoorah! :)

Next time I'll be sharing with you some more podcast episodes and... well, I'm sure there will be something more too - but I'm not certain exactly what, as yet! I'm not due to go away again until the end of July - so that is definitely the last holiday you'll have out of me for a month or two - although as I said at the start I have saved photos for use when the actual overseas episodes are released.
Anyway, that's all for now...
Take care - more soon,
Yeti hugs,
Paul (aka Shy Yeti) xx
